OBJECTIVE
My ministry goals are: to bring glory to God through liturgy, music and the arts; to lead, train and encourage the assembly to enter into active dialogue (speaking, singing and listening) with God in worship; to find and put to use music that reinforces and amplifies the text; to lead choristers, instrumentalists and other artists to work for musical, artistic and spiritual excellence; to utilize music and the arts as mediums for outreach, education and spiritual formation; to provide pastoral and spiritual care for those in my area of ministry.
WORK HISTORY
Director of Music/Organist, Georgetown Presbyterian Church (September 2003 – present) - Lead a comprehensive music ministry consisting of 6 vocal choirs, one adult bell choir and a children's handchime group.
Director, sacred grounds center for music, liturgy and the arts, Georgetown, South Carolina (September 2003 – present). sacred grounds has evolved over the years from a private teaching studio to now, a multi-faceted ministry which includes community choral groups, private teaching, an occasional coffeehouse, concerts, counseling and weddings/rituals.
Director, in dulci jubilo ministries, Atlanta, Georgia (August 2000 –2003 in dulci jubilo is now sacred grounds) ...see sacred grounds.
Minister of Music, Word of Life Church, Springfield, Virginia (June 1998 – August 2000) Led a comprehensive music program in this multicultural church made up of The International Choir, orchestra, three children's choirs and a handebell choir. Season productions drew crowds from the DC metro area.
Associate Director of Music (Saturday Contemporary Service), Messiah United Methodist Church, Springfield, Virginia (Concurrent with Word of Life). Planned music and led a six member band and six member vocal group for this Saturday evening contemporary service.
Interim Director of Music/Organist, Truro Episcopal Church, Fairfax, Virginia (September 1997 – May 1998.
Director, in dulci jubilo ministries, Fairfax, Virginia (1996 - 2000). In 1995 I started a private teaching studio which evenutaully evolved into sacred grounds (see above). During this time I had a studio of 40-50 private piano and voice students, substitued for churches, led workshops and retreats among other musicl and artistic endeavors.
